What goes in a bio-data

  • Position desired and a 2 × 2 photo.
  • Personal data: name, address, contact number, date and place of birth, sex, civil status, citizenship, religion, height and weight.
  • Family background: spouse, parents and their occupations.
  • Education: each school and the year you graduated.
  • Employment record and special skills.
  • Character references: usually three people who are not relatives.
  • Your signature and the date, under a line saying the details are true.

Bio-data or resume?

Send what the employer asks for. Stores, factories, agencies and many small businesses ask for a bio-data. Offices, BPO companies and online applications usually want a resume, because it shows what you did in each job, not only where you worked.

Not sure which one you need? Read resume vs CV vs biodata. If the job post says "resume", start from a resume example for your job.

Common questions

Is this biodata maker free?+

Yes. Filling in, printing and saving the bio-data as a PDF are free, and you don't need an account.

Is my information saved or sent anywhere?+

No. The form works in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us. A draft is kept in your browser so you can come back to it, but your SSS, TIN, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG numbers and your photo are never saved — type those just before printing. Use Start over to clear the draft on a shared computer.

What is the difference between a bio-data and a resume?+

A bio-data is a form of personal details: birth date, civil status, family, schools and references. A resume describes your work and what you achieved in it. Many employers ask for one or the other, and some ask for both.

What size of paper should I use?+

The page is A4. In the print window choose A4 and turn off headers and footers. If you only have short bond paper (Letter), choose "Fit to page" so nothing is cut off.

Do I have to fill in everything?+

No. Leave a field blank and its line stays empty, so you can also write on it by hand after printing. Give government numbers only when the employer asks for them.

Can I add my photo?+

Yes, upload a 2 × 2 photo and it is placed in the box. You can also leave the box empty and paste a printed photo.
